Andy Mark is the dynamic President of the Grizzlies. Captivated by the sheer speed and elegance of speed skating, his favourite Olympic sport, Andy’s leadership has been instrumental in steering the club to new heights.

His journey with the Grizzlies began in 2018, when his eldest son embraced his passion for speed skating and joined the club. Inspired by his son’s enthusiasm, Andy stepped onto the Grizzlies board in 2020, assuming the president’s role a year later.

An avid sportsman, Andy has a rich background in various sports, notably running and triathlon, where he qualified for two World Triathlon Age-Group Championships. He recently added long-track speed skating to his sports repertoire, further strengthening his connection with the speed skating community.

In addition to leading the Grizzlies, Andy is a finance and compliance executive at a Calgary-based money manager. His active participation in community affairs extends to serving on several non-profit boards and committees. 

Now in her fifth year on the board, Andrea Tyrrel’s unwavering dedication is evident in her role as Registrar. When she’s not volunteering with the board, you’ll frequently spot Andrea at speed skating meets as Registrar. 

Andrea’s commitment, both in the club and on the rink, showcases her passion for speed skating and the Calgary Grizzlies community.

Marnie Wachtler’s dedication to the Calgary Grizzlies is evident through her roles as Secretary, former Vice President, and President. A parent to two club skaters, her six-year journey has been filled with rich insights into speed skating. Professionally, Marnie balances her board duties with a full-time career as a naturopathic doctor. Her love for well-being mirrors her passion for outdoor sports, from skiing and biking to hiking and yoga. A fan of spicy foods and cultural explorations through travel, Marnie brings vibrancy to every endeavor. She shares, “I’m eager to progress the Grizzlies club further, anticipating meaningful contributions this year.”

Jeff joined the Grizzlies’ board to continue fostering the growth and love of speed skating. His aim is not only to provide invaluable insights and knowledge drawn from his years as an official, but also to offer a fresh perspective that can further enrich the experiences of the skaters and officials alike. Jeff’s dedication to speed skating and his innovative thinking make him a pivotal addition to the board, helping to shape the future of the Grizzlies Speed Skating Club.
